Life is busy. We work long and hard to make our way in life and, the reality is, it takes its toll physically, emotionally and mentally. That time of year comes around and we take our annual leave and it’s a good feeling. However, sometimes it can be so exhausting planning and executing your well-earned holiday, you return needing a holiday from your holiday. This it is why it is crucial to be intentional about planning time to refresh.

I am currently sitting on a cloudy daybed next to my beautiful wife, sipping a cool glass of Rosé made onsite from the same vines that sprawl up the hills in the distance. A large umbrella shades me from the warm, yet soft Portuguese sun as I lie in front of a large pool. Luscious green grass surrounds me while a forest of native trees whisper ‘autumn is near’. Of the 25 day beds spaciously spread out around the pool, four are occupied. All I can hear is the subtle songs of the birds, the soft caress of the breeze in the trees and the gentle sound of rippling water. I don’t know what time it is, nor do I care. The only thing that matters is how relaxed I feel.

Welcome to L’And Vineyard, located in the Portuguese Country side.

The Rooms – Each of the architecturally designed suites are an exclusive retreat with an astonishing view of the vineyard, lake and local landscape. The interior décor incorporates stained timber and dark natural stone that create a modern and sumptuous living space. Complete with a private plunge pool, large bath, retractable skylight above the bed, wall to wall windows, private terrace and outdoor fireplace, you could happily lock yourself inside and still leave satisfied with your stay.

Wine Tasting – Taste the local wines that make this region so special with the resident winemakers and sommeliers. This can be done out in the midst of the vineyard or in the comfort of the beautiful indoor Wine Gallery.

The Restaurant – Located on site in a large, beautifully decorated space, overlooking the vineyard, Chef Miguel Laffan works his magic. Laffan modernises traditional Portuguese cuisine that genuinely captures the culture of the region. To top it all off, Laffan was recently awarded his first Michelin star for his work at L’And Vineyard.

If sitting by the pool drinking Rosé all day is not your thing, there is much more to see and do including; an onsite spa facility, nature walks, guided tours to local sites, indoor and outdoor pools, tennis courts, a sauna and a gym.

Be careful escaping reality at L’And Vineyard, you may decide not to come back.
